Another blow for Russia.

Trending Now

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suspended all collaboration with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) indefinitely.

The decision comes after the ROC incorporated regional sports organizations from annexed areas in Ukraine as members. This move violates the Olympic Charter, as these areas fall under the jurisdiction of Ukraine's Olympic Committee.

The affected regions include Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizjzja.

The suspension means that the ROC loses its right to be called an Olympic Committee and will not receive any financial support from the Olympic movement.

However, it remains unclear what impact this decision will have on the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The IOC clarified that the recommendations made on March 28 of this year are still applicable. These recommendations opened the possibility for individual Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate under a neutral flag.

Several international special federations have endorsed these recommendations.
