Chris Denning, the 81-year-old British radio host, has passed away in prison where he had been serving a sentence since 2014. The news was reported by The Sun.

The cause of death is said to be diabetes; he had also previously been treated for cancer and heart problems.

Denning was a close friend of the late TV host Jimmy Savile, who was posthumously revealed to have committed numerous offenses over five decades.

Denning himself had admitted to multiple offenses over a period from 1969 to 1986, for which he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The former radio host had a history of legal issues dating back to 1974. After his release, he found himself in trouble again, and a decade later, he was briefly imprisoned for inappropriate behavior. In 1996, he was sentenced to ten months for possession of illegal material.

He was arrested in the Czech Republic for mistreatment of minors. He had been briefly imprisoned three more times in his home country for similar offenses before finally being sentenced in 2014.

Denning had admitted to additional offenses in 2016, for which he also received a 13-year sentence.
