But when couples lead completely separate lives behind closed doors, keeping their stories straight becomes a serious challenge.
One recent television interview exposed exactly that disconnect.
A glowing review
Melania Trump recently sat down for a rare appearance on Fox and Friends. During the broadcast, she painted a picture of a tirelessly dedicated husband according to the Irish Star.
She claimed the president is constantly busy. “He’s very focused, he has a lot on his plate,” she stated, according to the Mirror US.
The former first lady added that he gives the job his absolute all. “I think he’s doing the best he can, he works non-stop, he has the most energy of anybody. He’s from morning til evening, he’s non-stop working.”
Living separate lives
That portrait immediately raised eyebrows. The Trumps reportedly spend much of their time living entirely apart, with Melania splitting her days between Florida and New York.
Political commentator David Pakman quickly pointed out the obvious flaw in her narrative. He unpacked her unlikely claims during a recent broadcast on his popular YouTube channel.
David remarked, “I think the funniest question is something that is unsaid. How would Melania know that Trump is working from morning until evening.”
Questioning the facts
He noted that she operates very independently. “In fact, we have reason to believe she’s completely estranged from Donald Trump,” he said.
David acknowledged she might see his calendar, but he still questioned her insight. “But she’s basically estranged from Trump, so how would she know how hard and how many hours he’s working?”
The president’s actual daily routine also contradicts her sweeping claims. His public schedule frequently shows his first official meeting starting at 11 in the morning, followed by a lunch break.
While presidents handle important matters away from the cameras, David rejected the idea of Trump acting as a perpetual motion machine.
Catching some sleep
He reminded his audience of the president’s well-documented habits, including extensive television viewing and substantial blocks of unspecified executive time.
David also highlighted a more visible trend. “We’ve covered all of the time Trump spends watching TV, and we’ve also covered the increased frequency with which Donald Trump is falling asleep,” he noted.
“So Melania Trump’s description is incredible, that Trump is so relentlessly working, that I guess he has to catch up on sleep during work,” David stated.
