Switzerland's Foreign Ministry has announced that Davos is set to host a crucial meeting focused on Ukraine's Peace Formula on January 14. This meeting, marking the fourth of its kind, is expected to witness participation from over 80 delegations, underscoring the international community's commitment to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Background of Ukraine’s Peace Formula

The Peace Formula, comprising a 10-point plan to end Russia's war in Ukraine, was first presented by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G20 summit in November 2022.

Following its introduction, three meetings were held in Copenhagen, Jeddah, and Malta last year, each aimed at advancing discussions on the peace plan.

Switzerland’s Continued Support for Ukraine

Switzerland has played a pivotal role in supporting Ukraine, with the upcoming meeting in Davos being the second major event organized in the country following the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano in July 2022. President Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Switzerland for backing Ukraine's Peace Formula and facilitating these critical discussions.

Aim of the Davos Meeting

As stated by the Swiss Foreign Ministry, the main objective of the Davos meeting is to conclude discussions at the level of national security advisers on establishing principles for a lasting and just peace in Ukraine. The discussions will focus on the 10 facets of Ukraine’s peace plan, which have been explored by 10 working groups.

Switzerland’s Role in the Working Groups

Switzerland has been actively involved in several working groups, particularly those focusing on nuclear safety, food security, and the cessation of the war.

This involvement highlights the country's commitment to addressing key issues that are integral to achieving peace in Ukraine.
