A TV station reports that a search is underway for an unidentified flying object in Hrubieszów in southern Poland.

On Friday morning, an unidentified object flew into the airspace of NATO member Poland, heading from the Ukrainian border, as reported by the Polish army.

"This morning, an unidentified object entered the Republic of Poland's airspace from the Ukrainian side of the border," the army's operational command wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "From the moment it crossed the border until the signal disappeared, it was observed by radars of the country's air defense system," the statement continued.

The private TV station TV Republika has reported that a search for the object has been initiated near the town of Hrubieszów in southern Poland.

Russia has launched 158 drones and missiles at Ukrainian cities on Friday, marking the largest Russian air attack since the war began in February last year.

The death toll is rising in Ukraine under a massive Russian attack on Kyiv and other major cities, according to Reuters. Ukraine's air defense has responded to the attack with anti-aircraft missiles. On a previous occasion, in November 2022, an object fell on Polish soil during a Russian attack in the neighboring country, resulting in the death of two Polish citizens. It turned out to be remnants of a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile.

The Polish military is inspecting the area near the village of Przewodów in southeastern Poland after the missile strike last year.
