Portugal mourns the loss of Sara Tavares, a former Eurovision contestant, who has passed away at the age of 45.

Tavares, known for her participation in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, died following a prolonged battle with a brain tumor, which she was diagnosed with in 2009.

This sad news was reported by CNN Portugal.

Tavares' family confirmed her passing to the Portuguese media.

In 1994, she represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, where she finished in eighth place. Her journey to Eurovision began when she won the Portuguese TV singing competition Chuva de Estrelas, performing Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time."

She also won the Festival da Canção in 1994, leading to her representing Portugal at Eurovision that year.

Sara Tavares' contribution to music and her memorable performance at Eurovision will be fondly remembered by fans and the music community alike.
