A somber cloud hangs over Sumy Oblast following a devastating rocket attack that claimed the life of a 45-year-old man and left a 3-year-old girl among the injured.

The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office shared details of the incident on Facebook, reporting on the assault's impact on the civilian infrastructure within the Krasnopil community. The strike also resulted in damage to vehicles, a shop, and a cultural center.

This attack occurred on April 3, 2024, at approximately 9:20 a.m.

A Clear Violation of International Law

This assault was not only brutal; it violated the rules of war by employing tactics banned under international law. It deliberately targeted places where civilians live and work, which is strictly prohibited.

Officials from the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy, are gathering evidence of the incident. They are treating this as a serious crime, investigating it as a war crime and deliberate murder, under Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As the investigation moves forward, led by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office and following strict legal procedures, there is a strong call for those responsible to be held accountable.
