The FBI has officially reopened its investigation into the now-infamous discovery of cocaine inside the West Wing of the White House.

The renewed inquiry was confirmed by Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, who posted on X on May 26, stating that several high-profile cases are once again receiving attention — among them, the White House cocaine case, the 2021 D.C. pipe bombing, and the Dobbs decision leak from the Supreme Court.

“We made the decision to either re-open, or push additional resources and investigative attention, to these cases… I receive requested briefings on these cases weekly and we are making progress,” Bongino wrote.

A Scandal That Shocked the Nation

The original incident took place on July 2, 2023, when Secret Service agents discovered a small plastic bag of cocaine in a cubby near the entrance of the West Wing, which is a high-traffic area used by staff, visitors, and VIP guests.

The discovery triggered an immediate evacuation of the White House.

President Joe Biden and his family were at Camp David at the time, according to official records.

The substance was quickly confirmed as cocaine, but the investigation hit a dead end.

The bag carried no usable fingerprints or DNA, and surveillance footage failed to pinpoint who had placed it in the cubby.

With over 500 possible individuals passing through the area, the Secret Service closed the case without identifying a suspect.

Trump’s Theory — and a Familiar Name

Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the handling of the investigation and, in a recent interview, reignited controversy by claiming the drugs could belong to either Joe or Hunter Biden.

“Could be Joe, too,” Trump said to The Spectator’s Ben Domenech, referencing his ongoing skepticism of the Biden family.

While there is no evidence linking either President Biden or his son to the drugs, Hunter Biden’s history of substance abuse has fueled online speculation.

In his 2021 memoir Beautiful Things, Hunter candidly described his years-long addiction to crack cocaine and detailed his path to sobriety, which he says began in 2019.

“I probably smoked more parmesan cheese than anyone you know,” he joked in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

In the months following the initial investigation, photos of the bag and the location where it was found were made public, triggering fresh criticism about security protocols within one of the world’s most closely guarded buildings.
