17-year-old Noam Or and his 13-year-old sister Alma Or were released from captivity in Gaza, only to receive the devastating news of their mother's death. Their uncle, Ahal Besorai, shared the tragic account with CNN.

The siblings, who spent 50 days as hostages in the Gaza Strip, were unaware that their mother had been killed on October 7th, the day they were abducted.

“When they crossed the border and reunited with their grandmother and older brother, the first news they faced was that their mother was no longer alive. It was a horribly emotional and traumatic moment for them,” Besorai said.

Contrary to the family's belief, Besorai revealed that Noam and Alma were separated during their entire time as captives under Hamas. The fate of their father remains unknown, as he is still missing and believed to be held hostage by Hamas.

This harrowing story underscores the ongoing conflict's impact on families, leaving a lasting imprint on the lives of those caught in the crossfire.
