Colin Burgess has passed away at the age of 77.
AC/DC confirmed this in a Facebook post on Friday, where the iconic group wrote the following statement:
"It is very sad to hear about Colin Burgess' passing. He was our first drummer and a highly respected musician. Good memories, rock in peace Colin."
The cause of death is unknown at the time of writing.
In 1973, Burgess joined AC/DC along with guitarist brothers Angus and Malcolm Young - who founded the band - vocalist Dave Evans, and bassist Larry Van Kriedt.
Most fans may not remember Burgess as part of AC/DC. He was not part of the band for very long. In 1974, the other band members accused him of drinking during a concert and kicked him out. Burgess insisted that he did not drink during his performance, but the group maintained their decision.
Throughout AC/DC's 50-year-long career, the band has sold over 200 million albums worldwide, half of which were sold in the USA."
