After the assault, the perpetrator fled the bloody scene.
When a relationship ends, most people hope for a peaceful separation. But sometimes an obsessive dynamic turns dangerous, and a quiet home becomes the scene of an unimaginable nightmare.
A brutal attack
Actor Nick Pasqual just received a massive prison sentence. A judge ordered the 36-year-old to serve 32 years to life behind bars following a brutal assault on his former partner.
The sentencing marks the end of a grim legal process. The performer broke into Allie Shehorn’s house in the early morning hours of May 2024.
He then stabbed the makeup artist more than twenty times. Shehorn barely survived the horrifying ordeal. She required over fourteen hours of surgery just to live.
Running from justice
After the assault, the perpetrator fled the bloody scene. He attempted to escape into Mexico, but border agents eventually caught him at a checkpoint in Texas.
A friend discovered the victim bleeding out on the floor. They quickly called for emergency medical help. Shehorn spent over a week in critical condition at a local hospital.
Speaking to the news outlet KTLA, the friend described the terrifying discovery. “I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened,” the friend explained. “That wasn’t a pretty sight. This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don’t think this is ever going to happen to you.”
Holding him accountable
A jury finally convicted the actor last month. They found him guilty of attempted murder, forcible rape, domestic violence, and residential burglary.
Pasqual is known for minor roles in popular television shows. His credits include the comedy series How I Met Your Mother and the sci-fi film Rebel Moon. That movie set is where he first met Shehorn.
Following the guilty verdict, District Attorney George Gascón released a public statement about the painful case. “My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” Gascón said.
Path to healing
The prosecutor stressed that domestic violence cases leave deep scars on everyone involved.
“Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her,” Gascón stated.
“This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions,” Gascón concluded.
