Fatal collision
A head-on crash between a school bus and a passenger car in Manhattan, Illinois, killed one person and injured 11 others, NBC News reported.
Illinois State Police said the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus was transporting 10 students from Manhattan School District 114 at the time of the crash.
No major injuries were reported among the children, according to state police.
Emergency response
The collision occurred at about 8:17 a.m., the Manhattan Fire Protection District said. The bus driver and students were evaluated at the scene and later taken to nearby hospitals “due to the severity of the accident.”
