Tensions within the Royal Family are once again under scrutiny following fresh claims about a long-running dispute behind palace doors.
At the centre of the reports is an alleged clash between Queen Camilla and Prince Andrew that dates back years.

According to the The mirror, Camilla’s early years within royal circles were marked by resistance from Andrew, who is said to have opposed her relationship with King Charles III.
The outlet reports that despite gradually gaining public and royal approval, Camilla faced internal challenges, particularly from her brother-in-law during a period when her position remained uncertain.
Early tensions
As reported, Camilla’s entry into public royal life followed years of scrutiny after her relationship with Charles became widely known.
Following Princess Diana’s death in 1997, comparisons intensified, with Camilla often portrayed unfavourably in public debate while trying to establish her role.
Queen Elizabeth II signalled acceptance, Andrew remained critical, with royal author Angela Levin claiming he attempted to intervene in Charles and Camilla’s future.

A source cited in Levin’s book alleged Andrew viewed Camilla as “insufficiently aristocratic” and “not to be trusted”, adding his conduct became “very, very negative and extremely unpleasant”.
Claims of hostility
The same account described Andrew as “‘quite poisonous, mean, unhelpful and very nasty about Camilla”, suggesting tensions persisted over time.
Royal commentator Richard Kay said Camilla felt Andrew had failed to support Charles when it mattered most, noting: “Looking back to when there was little public sympathy for Charles and Camilla, if not open hostility, it was a case of Andrew playing politics. Camilla hasn’t forgotten.”
Signs of distance between the two, including Camilla’s absence from Princess Eugenie’s 2018 wedding due to an official engagement.
Shift in fortunes
In more recent years, the balance within the Royal Family has changed, with Camilla now Queen and firmly established in public life.

By contrast, Andrew has stepped back from royal duties following ongoing controversies, which he has consistently denied.
Royal PR expert Luana Ribeira told the Mirror: “People are not going to side with Andrew right now, and she is seen as somebody who really had to fight for her place, which people respect.”
Camilla may have supported decisions affecting Andrew’s royal status, although these suggestions remain speculative.
