The Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda commented on the recent attack on Leonidas Volkov, not ruling out the possibility of Kremlin involvement.

"There is no doubt that such things are planned. Desecration of the Lithuanian flag, incidents with monuments have increased recently. (...) It is clear that such things are being planned, we should not be surprised," the President stated.

"But I want to make it very clear - the authorities will assess, investigate and hopefully find the guilty persons. And I can only say one thing to Putin - no one is afraid of you here," Nausėda added.

On the subject of sanctions imposed by Russia on Lithuanian politicians, Nausėda noted that "if Russia is annoyed by our actions, it means that we have achieved a result."

"Our retaliatory actions are our unity and very clear decisions regarding Ukraine, this is the best 'gift' we can give to the Kremlin regime," the president asserted.

During a visit to France, Nausėda acknowledged the proposal by the French president for NATO countries to send troops to Ukraine.

"We have to consider this idea, but, of course, it's best if we all agree on the need for it and very carefully assess the intelligence and other information available. If we start reacting in a way that doesn't please Putin or causes one or the other, we will never make any decision."

"Let's stop drawing red lines for ourselves - in doing so, we are only helping Putin, who is beginning to think that we are easily predictable, that he can control and manipulate us. He must not manipulate EU leaders," Nausėda concluded.
