The Sumy Regional Military Administration has reported a series of attacks carried out by Russian forces on the border areas of Sumy Oblast, Ukraine.

During the night and morning of April 15, four separate shellings targeted the region, resulting in a total of 17 explosions.

Details of the Attacks

According to the official report shared on Facebook and cited by Ukrinform, three communities were specifically targeted:

  • Velikopysarivsk Community: Witnessed 11 mine explosions as the area was heavily mined by the Russian military.

  • Shalyginsk Community: Came under mortar fire, causing significant distress among the residents.

  • Svesk Community: Suffered from artillery shelling, marking a severe escalation in the use of firepower in residential zones.

These incidents follow a disturbing pattern of increased military aggression in the region. Just a day prior, on April 14, Russian forces shelled 19 border territories and settlements within Sumy Oblast, resulting in one casualty.

"At night and in the morning, the Russians carried out 4 shellings of the border areas and settlements of the Sumy region. 17 explosions were recorded. The communities of Velikopysarivsk, Shalyginsk and Svesk came under fire," the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported.
