The conference quickly delved into critical topics, with Putin stating early on, "The existence of Russia without sovereignty is impossible."

More weapons than planned

Approximately fifteen minutes into the meeting, Putin shifted the focus to what is still referred to as a military operation in Ukraine.

During this segment, the Russian President made a notable admission. Despite expecting Ukraine to receive assistance from the West, Putin confessed that he had not anticipated the extent of support actually provided.

Directly addressing the audience in the televised press conference, Putin stated, "Ukraine received more weapons than planned." This acknowledgment reflects a miscalculation in Russia's expectations regarding Western aid to Ukraine.

Furthermore, Putin mentioned significant developments in the Russian military. By the end of the year, 486 thousand contract soldiers had been recruited into the Russian army. He emphasized that there is no need for a second mobilization, indicating a level of confidence in the current strength and capacity of the Russian military forces.
