Ukraine continues its campaign to target Russian energy infrastructure, and the night between Tuesday and Wednesday was no exception.

The regional governor of the Russian Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, confirmed on Telegram on that Ukrainian drones had been detected in the airspace, but he also said that the UAVs were destroyed.

The governor ended his post by reminding residents that sharing videos or photos of the aftermath of “terrorist attacks,” as he called them, is banned in the region — but the residents clearly didn’t care.

The plant is part of Russia’s Unified Energy System for central regions and feeds major 500 kV and 220 kV lines, supplying a large area with power.

Aiming at energy

Polish intelligence expert Piotr Krawczyk told Express that Ukraine’s broader campaign is taking a toll, estimating that “between 35% to 40% of the refining capacity of Russia” has been hit, alongside export and transport infrastructure.

Residents across Russia have already faced long queues at petrol stations, with shortages emerging as strikes continue to hit refineries, depots, and power hubs.
