According to Russian media Lenta, the city of Orel in Russia faced drone attacks allegedly conducted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the morning of Jan. 24. Governor Andrey Klychkov of Orel Oblast reported that Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the Railway and Northern districts.

Klychkov emphasized that there were no casualties as a result of the attack. Security services were dispatched to the incident sites for public safety and to conduct necessary procedures by law enforcement agencies. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the destruction of several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the region.

Four UAVs were intercepted over the territory of Orel Oblast by air defense systems, as stated by the Russian Ministry of Defense's press service. The attack resulted in damage to several residential buildings, with windows shattered in multi-story buildings in the Northern and Railway districts, according to Mayor Yuri Parakhin.

The city administration organized a commission for emergency situations to work with managing companies and territorial administrations to repair the damage to the buildings. Parakhin mentioned that residents might be offered temporary accommodation if necessary, and they are in constant contact with the authorities.

Earlier, two UAVs fell on a fuel and energy complex in Orel. On the night of Jan. 21, the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly tried to attack Orel and Tula regions, with air defense forces successfully repelling the attack, destroying all drones. The Ministry of Defense also reported two attempted attacks by Ukrainian UAVs over the Smolensk region, which were successfully shot down.

Previously, on Jan. 9, Governor Klychkov reported the fall of two UAVs on a fuel and energy complex in Orel, resulting in a fire that was quickly contained. The attack injured three people, two of whom refused hospitalization after receiving necessary assistance.

A second drone strike hit the "Orelenego" enterprise, resulting in shattered windows and several people suffering cuts. Another attack on the same day saw a drone crash on a non-residential object in the Malaya Sakhanka settlement area, with no civilian casualties reported.

As of now, there has been no independent verification from sources other than Russian media regarding the alleged drone attack in the city of Orel. It is important to approach such claims with caution until they are corroborated by additional independent sources.
