In a tragic turn of events, Odessa became the target of a drone attack by Russian forces, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including a young child aged between 3 to 5 years.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces disclosed that a total of eight Shahed kamikaze drones were deployed against the city, with the majority being intercepted and destroyed. However, one drone managed to penetrate defenses, striking a nine-story residential building and causing significant destruction.

The impact led to the collapse of the building's entrance, leaving four dead and seven others injured, among them a child and a pregnant woman.

The aftermath has seen continued rescue efforts, with people believed to still be trapped under the debris and six individuals reported as missing.

In his remarks on the assault, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky detailed the extensive damage inflicted on Odessa, noting that 18 apartments were obliterated. He also mentioned that drone strikes extended beyond Odessa, targeting Kharkov and several cities within the Sumy region.

President Zelensky emphasized the urgent need for enhanced air defense capabilities to protect Ukrainian citizens from such acts of aggression. "More air defense systems, more air defense missiles - this is what saves lives,” he asserted, calling on international partners to bolster Ukraine’s defenses against further attacks.
