Details of the Incident

According to 20minutos, police reported that the attack occurred around 9:45 a.m. local time (2:15 a.m. CET). The swimmer, whose identity has not been disclosed, was bitten by a shark while in the water. Quick-thinking bystanders managed to bring the injured man to shore, where paramedics stabilized him before transporting him to a hospital.

Shark Incidents in the Region

This is not the first such incident at Port Noarlunga. In November 2023, a woman survived a similar shark attack at the same location, approximately 30 kilometers south of Adelaide.

Australia has recorded a total of nine shark attacks in 2024, according to the International Shark Attack Database at the University of Florida.

None of the previous incidents this year were fatal.

However, a tragic exception occurred in March, when a surfer was killed by a shark off the coast of Western Australia.

Local authorities continue to monitor the area closely and are urging swimmers to heed safety warnings as investigations into the latest attack proceed.
