In an absolutely horrifying incident that unfolded in Dayton, Ohio, a 66-year-old security guard suffered a gruesome attack, resulting in the loss of her eye, with the potential for permanent blindness.

The incident, which occurred at the Premier Health building downtown, has left the community in shock and disbelief.

The attacker, identified as 25-year-old James Fickling, is now in custody and facing severe charges.

According to court documents, Fickling launched a brutal assault on the elderly security guard, knocking her down, rendering her unconscious with repeated blows to her face, and then horrifically gouging out her eye.

But the violence didn’t stop there.

When Dayton firefighters responded to the scene, they too became targets of Fickling’s rampage.

Police reports indicate that Fickling attacked the firefighters, attempting to dig his fingers into one of their eye sockets and injuring others. A police officer who arrived at the scene was bitten in the leg by the assailant.

The chilling attack, partly captured on the building’s surveillance cameras, paints a gruesome picture of the violence that unfolded.

The suspect, who remained silent during his initial court appearance, broke down in tears the following day, doubling over as he faced the judge. For his and others' safety, Fickling was required to wear a vest restricting his movement.

As the community reels from this shocking incident, there are now calls for increased security measures and support for those who put their lives on the line to protect others.

The incident has sparked a heated discussion about the safety of security personnel and first responders, and what needs to be done to ensure such a brutal attack never happens again.

The court has set Fickling’s bond at a staggering $750,000, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the danger he poses to the community.
