Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has declared that Slovakia will not pose any hurdles to Ukraine's efforts to join the European Union.

Fico made these comments during a press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Slovakia, following intergovernmental consultations.

Unwavering Support for Ukraine

Fico addressed Slovakia's commitment to Ukraine's EU aspirations, asserting, "This is not speculation. This is absolute full support."

He reassured that Slovakia's stance is to facilitate, not hinder, Ukraine's path to EU membership.

"We are not a country that will create obstacles for you on your way to the EU. On the contrary, we want to help, to share with you our experience related to accession negotiations," Fico stated, as reported by European Truth.

The Slovak leader expressed a keen desire for Ukraine to swiftly become a member of the European Union, citing significant benefits such as enhanced country prospects, development, and peaceful progression.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed for you," Fico told his Ukrainian counterpart.

Fico also mentioned Slovakia's intent to maintain and enhance friendly relations with Ukraine, underscoring the importance of solidarity and cooperation between the neighboring nations.

Participation in Global Peace Efforts

Adding to Slovakia's support on the international stage, Fico announced Slovakia's participation in the inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland, indicating the country's active role in fostering global and regional peace initiatives.

This strong endorsement from Slovakia comes at a crucial time for Ukraine, as it seeks to bolster its ties with the European Union and secure its place within the European community amidst ongoing regional challenges.
