He claims that even if Iran surrenders, the media would frame it as a US defeat.
It’s no secret that the US President, Donald Trump, has a — let’s say — tense relationship with the free press.
The POTUS has repeatedly attacked several news outlets over their coverage of his presidency, ICE, the economy, and much else.
He has also given several outlets a “nickname”, describing The New York Times as “failing” and CNN as “corrupt and irrelevant” when referring to them on social media.
And yesterday, the president fired another broadside against the news media — this time over their coverage of the Iran war.
“Absolutely crazy”
In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump claims that The New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journa (which he calls The China Street Journal), and “all other members of the Fake News Media” would frame an Iranian surrender as a “Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America”.
He also takes a jab at his political opponents, calling the Democrats “Dumacrats”, stating that both his political opponents and the media “have gone absolutely CRAZY!!!”

123-word sentence
The first sentence of the post actually makes up most of the entire post:
“If Iran surrenders, admits their Navy is gone and resting at the bottom of the sea, and their Air Force is no longer with us, and if their entire Military walks out of Tehran, weapons dropped and hands held high, each shouting “I surrender, I surrender” while wildly waving the representative White Flag, and if their entire remaining Leadership signs all necessary “Documents of Surrender,” and admit their defeat to the great power and force of the magnificent U.S.A., The Failing New York Times, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn’t even close.”
That sentence is 123 words long without any periods to break it up.
The post in full is 139 words, if you include the signature “President DJT”.
Ongoing battle
It is not the first time Donald Trump has criticised the media over coverage of the Iran war.
He has even claimed that Iran has been “working in close coordination with the Fake News Media”.
In March, senior political commentator for CNN David Axelrod even theorized that Trump might envy countries without a First Amendment (which prohibits the government from interfering with the press), noting that “Putin doesn’t have to put up with this!”
