He said he also told her to leave him alone.

Every couple has little habits that drive the other person up the wall.

Most spouses keep those complaints behind closed doors, or at least try to tone things down when asked nicely.

This week on the campaign trail, however, one husband decided to turn his partner’s biggest pet peeves into a crowd-pleasing spectacle.

Doing what she hates

President Donald Trump used two separate rallies this week to mock First Lady Melania Trump for disliking his favorite onstage routines, according to HuffPost.

In both appearances, the president told supporters that his wife disapproves of his stiff dancing to the song “YMCA” and his impressions of transgender athletes.

During a Wednesday stop in Bullhead City, Arizona, Trump launched into a rambling story about an unnamed transgender weightlifter. Right in the middle of the speech, he stopped to share his wife’s reaction. “My wife is going crazy with me,” Trump told the audience, as reported by HuffPost.

“She hates… she said, ‘You’re president of the United States, you shouldn’t be doing this,'” Trump recounted. Seconds later, he defied her wishes on the spot by grunting and pretending to heave a heavy barbell above his head.

Mocking the exit wave

The onstage impressions are not the only habit bothering the first lady. According to HuffPost, Trump told the Arizona crowd that his wife also dislikes his jerky “YMCA” routine and warned him that he “shouldn’t be dancing on the stage, either.”

“She said, ‘You should walk off with a gentle wave,'” Trump told the crowd while acting out a mock wave and saying, “Goodbye, everyone.” After dubbing the disco track the “gay national anthem” and boasting that it helped him win the “highest gay vote of any Republican in history,” he kept poking fun at her advice. “She said, ‘You should not dance off the stage, my darling,'” Trump continued. “‘I love you very much, but please, don’t do that.'”

Cheered on in Alaska

A day earlier in Wasilla, Alaska, the president shared a similar story about her distaste for his sports routines, HuffPost reported. “My wife hates when I talk about this,” Trump said on Tuesday before targeting a transgender swimmer. “She says, ‘Oh, it’s so unelegant, darling.'”

When he brought the weightlifter bit back up, he told the Alaska crowd how he pushed back at home. “I’m telling you, my wife doesn’t like these stories,” Trump said. “I said, ‘I just won the damn election in a landslide, leave me alone.'”

While pretending to lift weights onstage, Trump paused to remind everyone: “Oh, my wife hates this… she said it’s so damn unpresidential.” Calling his own act “cool,” he asked the audience if he should keep going, and when fans roared their approval, he leaned even harder into the routine before calling transgender athletes “so demeaning” to women, HuffPost noted.
