Trump disses his supporters: ‘I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap’

Trump made a startling comment directly to his supporters this past Saturday.

Trump continues his tour all over the United States of America to try and turn the tide for Republicans ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in just three weeks.

Over the weekend, Trump made a campaign stop in Tennessee to help his GOP candidates in what has unexpectedly become a battleground state.

But instead of putting the spotlight on his candidates, it became the “Trump show” during his speech. And then he accidentally trashed his supporters who came to hear him speak.

While Trump’s speech covered the usual topics such as Iran, the military, and his personal enemies, he also let his supporters in the crowd know what he thought about them.

“It’s amazing. When you stand up here, it’s just like: I could say the stupidest things and you’d clap. It’s true.”

The rare mask-off moment was met with great laughter and applause from the crowd as Trump rambled on about being not so much a conservative as a “common sense” person.

Was it deliberate?

It is hard to gather from Trump’s facial expression if he had contempt for his supporters or if he was staking a claim that he could get away with saying anything.

It is clear that Trump’s crowds for these speeches get smaller as he gets further into his second term and more unpopular in the polls.

Not only are his venues smaller, but there are also no more sell-out crowds even as he speaks in deep Trump-land in Tennessee on a Saturday afternoon. According to this video, the venue was half empty at the end of Trump’s speech.
