Trump was supposed to campaign for Republican candidates in Tennessee, but he could not stop himself from going after his enemies.
President Donald Trump is known for his long speeches in which the planned speech on the teleprompter is only a suggestion for him.
On Saturday, Trump was in Tennessee to throw his support behind the Republican candidates for the Senate and the House, but the speech only seemed to revolve around him.
And then it turned into a personal attack on a former vice president’s appearance that he does not like.
Attack on Harris
During the rally speech in Tennessee, Donald Trump was about to praise himself and talk about how he was able to give so many speeches when he went on a different tangent.
He started to attack former Vice President Kamala Harris, first on her policies, but then it became much more personal. “Remember that beautiful Kamala? Somebody said she’s so beautiful. Really?” Trump cracked to great effect with the crowd.
Boos started to rain down once Harris’ name was mentioned. One woman turned her thumb downward, while another shook her head in disapproval.

Unfiltered commentary
This is not the first time Trump has trashed Harris and her appearance. During an August 2024 livestream talk with Elon Musk, Trump reflected on a Time magazine cover of Harris. Trump seemed to suggest that the magazine had tampered with the photographs.
“She looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live. Actually, she looked very much like a great First Lady, Melania. She didn’t look like Kamala,” Trump told Musk, according to The Independent. “But of course, she’s a beautiful woman, so we’ll leave it at that, right?”
Days later, at a rally in Pennsylvania before the election, he compared his own looks to the former vice president’s. “Don’t ever call a woman beautiful, because that’ll be the end of your political career,” he advised the cheering crowd. “But I say that I am much better looking. I’m a better-looking person than Kamala.”
Melania the movie star
The speech in Tennessee also featured the president talking about his marriage to Melania Trump. He admitted that his wife routinely critiques his speeches.
“My wife hates when I do this. She says it’s ‘not at all elegant’ and ‘not presidential.’ I said it may not be presidential, but I won the election in a landslide,” he told the audience.
After describing Melania as “a very elegant woman,” Trump brought up her recent film project. He did not like that the movie had become so popular.
“And I don’t like that it’s the No. 1 movie. You know why? There’s only room for one star in a family, so I don’t need this movie stuff,” he joked.
