Two fighter jets collided during an air show near Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.

Two US fighter jets collided in mid-air during an air show near Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, prompting an emergency response and investigation.

Mid-air collision

According to Digi24, the incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies air show near Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.

The collision happened roughly two miles from the military installation, located south of Boise.

Authorities said the surrounding area was immediately secured following the crash.

Emergency response teams were deployed to the scene as investigators began examining the incident.

Crew escapes

Videos shared on social media appeared to show four parachutes opening after the collision.

Air show organisers said the four crew members safely ejected before the aircraft hit the ground, reports Digi24.

Investigation underway

Officials at Mountain Home Air Force Base stated they would release details about the type of aircraft involved and the cause of the collision as they became available.

The crash occurred during a public demonstration event attended by spectators near the air base.

This is the first such incident to happen during an air show on US soil since 2023, where a similar collision during the Reno Air Races resulted in the deaths of both pilots.
