A small private jet crashed into a residential neighborhood in San Diego early Thursday morning.
The aircraft was a Cessna 550 Citation.
It went down around 3:45 a.m. local time near Montgomery Executive Airport, San Diego Fire-Rescue officials confirmed.
The jet, commonly used for business travel and capable of carrying six to eight passengers, struck homes in the city’s Murphy Canyon neighborhood amid dense fog.

“We have jet fuel everywhere,” Deputy Fire Chief Dan Eddy said at a news conference. “Our primary goal is to search all of these homes and evacuate everyone immediately.”
At least 15 homes were affected by fires ignited during the crash.
Several were directly hit by the aircraft, though the full extent of the damage was not immediately known.
No injuries or fatalities have yet been confirmed.
“The visibility was extremely poor,” Eddy said. “You could barely see in front of you.”
Authorities have not confirmed how many people were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
Evacuations were ordered along several streets in the surrounding area, and emergency crews remained on scene throughout the morning conducting search and rescue operations and extinguishing fires.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Officials say foggy conditions at the time may have been a contributing factor.
