Living miles apart
Melania Trump has largely vanished from the political spotlight in recent months. The first lady recently broke a 31-day absence, but questions about her whereabouts continue to swirl.
According to biographer Michael Wolff, she is essentially avoiding Washington altogether. Writing on his Substack newsletter called Howl cited by Irish Star, the author made several startling claims about the current state of the presidential marriage.
Wolff alleged that she has not spent a single night at the executive mansion since her husband began his new term nearly 600 days ago. He noted that she is instead running a New York brand that disclosed net profits of $17 million last year.
A vicious response
These claims did not go unanswered by the administration. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle delivered a blistering counterattack when asked by reporters about the explosive newsletter.
Ingle savagely hit back at the author. He labeled the writer “a professional scumbag and serial liar whose brain has been completely warped by his severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
The fierce denial comes just days after the first lady finally stepped back in front of the cameras. She made a brief appearance at the White House on August 27, joking to the crowd, “I heard you missed me. Here I am.”

Her sudden return happened just as online chatter began focusing heavily on Donald Trump’s 35-year-old aide, Natalie Harp. Yet Wolff insists the physical distance between the president and his wife is an open secret within their inner circle.
The author claimed that advisors were actively looking for ways to explain her extended absences during the 2024 race. He wrote that aides began testing the phrase, “She’ll be more like a part-time first lady.”
Wolff also shared a highly blunt assessment he supposedly received from a senior staffer. According to the writer, one top aide told him simply, “She hates his guts.”
The author described this setup as a unique piece of political theatre. He argued that the couple makes such a limited effort to pretend that everyone simply accepts the reality.
