Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has promised to respond to the strikes on the country's territory that occurred on December 29.
He published his statement on Telegram.
Powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities:
"We will definitely respond to the strikes," declared Volodymyr Zelensky before continuing.
"Today, Russia struck with almost everything it has in its arsenal: Daggers, S-300, cruise missiles, UAVs. Strategic bombers launched Kh-101/Kh-505. About 110 missiles were fired, most of them were shot down "Unfortunately, as a result of the shelling, there are dead and wounded.
According to Zelensky a maternity hospital, educational institutions, a shopping center, high-rise buildings and private houses, a commercial warehouse, and a parking lot were damaged in Kharkiv, Odessa and Kyiv.
Yuriy Ignat, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, says this was the largest-scale attack on the country so far during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
