According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces are currently endeavoring to regain the initiative on the Ukrainian battlefield through multiple offensive operations, especially in the east.

Despite these efforts, it remains uncertain if Russia can fully achieve this goal.

Ukrainian forces are actively exerting pressure in critical front areas, particularly in Kupiansk, Bakhmut, and Avdiivka, as well as making tactical gains in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region and on the left bank of Kherson.

Ukrainian officials have acknowledged the challenging situation but maintain control over the battlespace. The ongoing Russian operations align with ISW's assessments, highlighting the struggles faced by Russian forces to completely turn the tide of the conflict.

The Russian military command is now faced with a strategic decision: either to keep their forces in specific areas to defend against Ukrainian advances or to redeploy them to bolster their offensive efforts.

This decision is critical as it will likely impact Russia's capacity to regain the initiative in the upcoming weeks.
