Musk moves on

Elon Musk is done with the Department of Government Efficiancy (DOGE), but that doesn’t mean he’s going to take som time off. In fact, he plans on providing humanity with a “life insurance”.

Mars, here we come

In an interview med Fox News Host, Jesse Waters, Musk elaborated on his vision about humanity colonizing Mars – a vision he described as a life insurance for all of humanity, as we are doomed no matter wat.

Expanding Sun

Musk said: “The sun is gradually expanding, and so we do at some point need to be a multi-planet civilization because Earth will be incinerated.”

We’ve got time to find a solution

According to a NASA fact sheet, the sun is classified as a medium-sized star. It will eventually run out of energy and expand, during which it will turn into a red giant. At this point, it can could become so large that it would engulf both Mercury, Venus and possibly Earth. Scientists predict that the Sun will last another 5 billion years, though.

Landing on Mars is not enough

In order to become a self.sustaining civilization on Mars, simply landing on The Red Planet won’t be enough. “If the resupply ships (from earth) are necessary for Mars to survive, then we have not created a life insurance,” Musk said.

The Wheels are in motion

Mid-March, Musk wrote in a post on X that a humanoid robot called Optimas, which is made by Tesla, will depart for Mars at the end of 2026. It will be on board a SpaceX Starship.

Can pave the way for humans

A humanoid robot is not the same as an actual human being, but Musks predicted that humans could start landing on Mars as soon as 2029, 2031 being more likely though – if the mission with Optimus goes well.
