Battery life remains a key battleground in the smartphone market, as users demand devices that can keep up with heavy daily use.

While Apple continues to focus on efficiency, some Android manufacturers are pushing limits in a different way.

According to a report by SlashGear, several Android phones now surpass the iPhone 17 Pro in both battery capacity and endurance.

Apple’s approach

The iPhone 17 Pro includes a 4,252 mAh battery, with the Pro Max version increasing capacity to 5,088 mAh. Apple relies heavily on software and hardware integration to stretch performance.

SlashGear notes that Apple’s A-series chips and iOS optimization help deliver strong real-world battery life despite smaller batteries on paper.

Even so, competitors are taking a more direct approach by increasing battery size and charging speeds.

Flagship competition

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra offers a 5,000 mAh battery and has been shown in independent testing to slightly edge past the iPhone 17 Pro Max in endurance.

It also supports faster charging speeds, reaching up to 60W, compared to Apple’s 40W.

Other flagship devices go further. The OnePlus 15 features a 7,300 mAh battery, allowing it to last through intensive tasks like gaming and navigation with power to spare.

Larger capacity trend

Some brands are adopting new battery technologies to increase capacity even more. Devices like the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max feature batteries around 7,500 mAh.

According to SlashGear, these phones rank among the longest-lasting devices currently available, aided by fast charging and efficient processors.

However, availability may be limited, as some of these models are not widely sold in all markets.

Affordable endurance

Battery performance is also improving in more affordable devices. The OnePlus 15R offers a 7,400 mAh battery at a lower price point.

SlashGear reports that the device can last up to two days with moderate use, making it a strong option for users prioritizing longevity without paying flagship prices.

Changing priorities

As smartphones evolve, manufacturers are taking different approaches to battery life. Apple emphasizes efficiency, while Android brands often prioritize raw capacity and faster charging.
