Chelsea are on course to significantly increase their summer transfer spending to around £175million as they continue negotiations for several high-profile targets. The club has already spent approximately £65million on signings including Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mike Penders, but they are far from finished.

According to football.london, the Blues are actively pursuing deals for Mohammed Kudus, Jamie Gittens and either Joao Pedro or Xavi Simons. These additions would bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of a campaign that includes Champions League football and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Kudus Discussions Advance But No Offer Yet

Chelsea have held initial talks with West Ham United regarding Kudus, who has an £85million release clause. However, West Ham are reportedly willing to negotiate for a slightly lower fee. The Ghanaian forward is seen as a versatile attacking option capable of filling multiple roles across the front line.

The Blues have yet to make an official bid but the dialogue between the clubs indicates serious interest. Kudus is one of several names being evaluated alongside Simons and Pedro, each of whom could cost in the region of £60million to £68million.

Gittens Deal Progresses With Personal Terms Agreed

In a more advanced move, Chelsea have secured a verbal agreement on personal terms with Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old is viewed as the club’s priority target for the left-wing position, and he is keen on a return to England.

While Dortmund rejected Chelsea’s initial £42million bid, talks remain ongoing with the German club demanding closer to £50million. A fresh offer from Chelsea is expected soon, with optimism that a deal can be reached.

Chelsea’s Strategy Aligns With Premier League Rivals

As Chelsea continue to build under Maresca, they remain mindful of the aggressive strategies adopted by domestic rivals. Liverpool have already spent near £150million this summer and are pushing towards £190million. Chelsea’s efforts are equally ambitious as they aim to re-establish themselves as consistent contenders.

Should Chelsea complete two of the three high-profile deals they are targeting, their total summer outlay would approach the £175million mark. That figure could climb even higher depending on additional moves later in the window.

Eyes on the Future With Youth and Versatility

The club’s approach reflects a blend of youth investment and tactical flexibility. With Gittens, Kudus, Pedro and Simons all capable of playing in multiple attacking roles, Chelsea appear committed to providing Maresca with a dynamic and well-rounded squad capable of competing across multiple competitions in 2025-26.
