Elon Musk suggests removing the visibility of likes and reposts on X.

X, formerly known as Twitter, might stop displaying the number of likes and reposts on its timeline, according to Elon Musk.

The billionaire mentioned this idea during his speech at Morgan Stanley's technology, media, and telecom conference on Wednesday. Musk expressed that showing these numbers could clutter the platform's look, as reported by Reuters.

"That is definitely happening. Just view count, as proxy for the other metrics, will show on the timeline," Musk posted on X the same day.

This isn't the first time Musk has suggested significant changes to X since his acquisition in October 2022.

In August, Musk announced that X would eliminate all article headlines from links shared on the platform to enhance its visual appeal.

However, after initially implementing these changes in October, Musk reversed his decision in less than two months. On November 22, he stated in a post on X that article titles would be displayed "in the upper portion of the image of a URL card."

Responding to a user's jest about the turnaround, Musk clarified, "No, the title will be in the image overlaid at the top, with URL overlaid at the bottom, as it is now – no extra vertical pixels used. I hate those giant, ugly URL cards."

Requests for comments from Musk's representatives to Business Insider, sent outside regular business hours, did not receive an immediate response.
