Shay Bradley had no intention of being buried without leaving his guests with a smile. That's why he had planned a very special surprise for his family and friends.

Funerals are never a joyous occasion, but Irish military veteran Shay Bradley had other plans when he was laid to rest back in 2019.

Just as tears began to flow, a sound emanated from the coffin. Then a voice, unmistakably Bradley's, broke the silence.

"Hello, hello. Let me out," were the words heard from the coffin, accompanied by distinct knocking on the coffin lid. There was no doubt among the guests; it was Shay Bradley's voice.

"Where the hell am I? Let me out, let me out. It's damn dark in here. Is that the priest I hear? It's Shay. I'm in the coffin. No, I'm in front of you. I'm dead," said Shay Bradley.

Of course, it wasn't actually Shay in the coffin speaking; it was a recording he had planned with his daughter Andrea to make the funeral guests laugh and smile.

The plan was a success, and you can see it in the video above.

Andrea later shared the video on Twitter, and it went viral.

"What a man. To make us all laugh while we are incredibly sad. He was truly a man. I will always love you, Dad Bear," wrote the daughter.

Shay Bradley passed away on October 8 2019, but his memory will last forever with this video.
