Twenty-year-old Sydney Allen unintentionally revealed an intimate secret that her mother was not supposed to know.
Sydney, a resident of Florida, went to the doctor with her mother.
The visit was due to Sydney's rare condition called syringomyelia, which affects her spinal cord and causes pain and reduced strength in her arms.
Sydney and her mother went to a hospital in Clearwater for a routine check-up. As part of the examination, Sydney had to undergo an X-ray.
However, the X-ray images disclosed a secret that her mother was not supposed to know.
Back in June, Sydney had gotten her nipples pierced as a birthday gift from her sister. Knowing that their parents, especially their mother who despises tattoos and piercings, would disapprove, the sisters decided to keep the body art a secret.
But when the doctor displayed the X-ray images, it became glaringly obvious that Sydney had gotten the secret piercings.
"My mom noticed my piercings as soon as the X-ray images popped up, and the doctor and I just started laughing hysterically,"
Sydney later explained to Buzzfeed. Her mother, however, was not amused and could only muster, "We'll talk about this later!"
Eventually, the shocked mother came to terms with her daughter's new body art, mainly because they were not visible to others.
The story, along with one of the revealing X-ray images, was soon shared online, amusing countless people. Sydney has since commented on the awkward incident, which she can now laugh about.
