On December 5, 2023, a 16-year-old girl experienced a terrifying ordeal when her hand got stuck in the doors of a crowded bus.
The incident, which occurred as she was on her way to take exams at the Sint-Michiels Institute in Keerbergen, was reported by HLN.
The bus driver, unaware of the situation, continued driving while the girl desperately clung to an interior door.
She was stuck in this position for about four kilometers, traveling at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
"She ended up outside, stuck between the doors, from the Ruisbeek stop to the Kampenhout Sas stop. The driver even skipped a stop, while everyone was shouting at him to stop because my daughter's life was in danger," explained the girl's mother.
The young girl, now traumatized by bus journeys, remained in this precarious position for nearly five minutes before the bus finally stopped.
"I think he didn't hear anything because of the noise in the crowded bus. These types of buses are always overloaded, and it was bound to go wrong one day. Fortunately, Femke remained calm," her mother added.
Femke was left with only a few bruises on her leg but is now traumatized by bus trips. Her mother told HLN that she plans to file a complaint with the police.
