A 78-year-old man from the Danish town of Skive was certain that he had been the victim of theft, so he decided to call the police.

According to Danish TV Midtvest, the elderly man had been out shopping when he suddenly realized that his wallet was missing.

A wallet containing 300 Danish kroner ($43), his driver's license, credit cards, and other small items. Therefore, a call to the police to report the stolen wallet was necessary.

However, it turned out that the situation was not quite as he had expected.

Called the police again

The presumed theft occurred on Thursday, but by Friday, he found himself calling the police again. He did so on Friday noon, while he was emptying his washing machine.

Amidst all the wet laundry, he indeed found his missing wallet.

Feeling remorseful for the false alarm, he contacted the police again to inform them of the mistake.

Fortunately for him, the police, understanding of such situations, reassured him that it's not uncommon for people to misplace items and later call off a theft report.
