The massive cuts made by DOGE is to blame.

What is happening?

U2-singer Bono appeared on the popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, where the Irishman voiced his concern over the cuts made by Elon Musk-lead DOGE.

USAID cuts

Specifically, the Singer is concerned about the cuts made to the USAID – the US support programme for developing nations – that have had 80 % of the funding taken away over the last couple of months.

50,000 tonnes of food rotting

Bono said on the podcast:

“There’s food rotting in boats and warehouses, There is 50,000 tons of food. The people who knew the codes — who were responsible for distributing that aid — were fired. That’s not America, is it?”

Projected 300,000 deaths

The singer then went on to cite a study made by a health mathematician from Boston University.

The study, which is based on a projection model, suggesting that as many as 300,000 people have already died due to the USAID cuts.

Not proven, but …

Bono emphazises that the numbers have not been verified, in part due to the lack of real rime reporting by the Nations affected by the cuts, but the available surveillance and data suggests that the number is realistic.

Musk: “He’s such a liar”

Unsurprisingly perhaps, Elon Musk took to X to rebuke Bono’s claims, stating that “he’s such a liar/idiot. Zero people have died!”
