Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has declined a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by the publication O Globo.
"Lula did not agree to a meeting with Zelensky," the publication stated.
It was added that the Ukrainian President had expressed a desire to meet with his Brazilian counterpart during his stay in Brazil on his way to the inauguration of the new leader Javier Milei in Argentina.
According to sources in the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request for a meeting was made at the last minute — on Thursday, when Lula and Brazilian diplomacy were occupied with a summit in Rio.
Furthermore, the timing and circumstances of the meeting were considered impossible, the publication concluded.
