Survivors recount scenes of chaos and terror as authorities investigate the deadliest shooting in the country's history.

Mass shootings are rare in Sweden, but Tuesday’s attack at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, has shaken the nation.

Witnesses described the terrifying moments when a lone gunman opened fire, leaving ten people dead and several others injured.

According to HotNews, the shooter was a 35-year-old unemployed man estranged from his family. Authorities confirmed he is also deceased but have not clarified whether he was shot or took his own life.

Witnesses Recount the Tragedy

Marwa, a student at the school, told Swedish TV4 how a man next to her was shot in the shoulder.

"He was bleeding a lot. When I looked behind me, I saw three people on the floor, bleeding," she recounted. Marwa and another person tried to help the injured man by wrapping a shawl around his wound to slow the bleeding.

A teacher, Lena Warenmark, described hearing around ten gunshots near her office. "I barricaded myself inside for over an hour," she told Sweden’s public radio.

Ali el Mokad, who waited outside a local hospital for news about the victims, said a witness had shared a chilling account: "They told me it was horrifying—people on the floor, injured, with blood everywhere."

Authorities Continue Investigation

Police have stated that early evidence suggests the attack was not ideologically motivated, though the gunman’s motives remain unknown.

Investigators are working to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy, which is now the worst mass shooting in Swedish history.

The incident has prompted calls for heightened security and mental health support, as the community of Örebro struggles to process the trauma.

Swedish officials have expressed condolences to the victims' families and vowed a thorough investigation to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
