On November 24, 2023, Danish journalist, Jesper Bengtson reported an incident involving Sweden's Prince Daniel, husband to the future Queen Victoria, who was caught speeding.

Despite the outward appearance that royals can do as they please, it's crucial to emphasize that they are not above the law due to their titles. This was highlighted when Prince Daniel was found driving at 87 km/h (54 mph) in an 80 km/h zone (50 mph) about a month ago.

Although the offense is not the gravest, royals are expected to uphold the country's laws and regulations.

Prince Daniel, who neither has nor sought immunity, now faces a fine of 2,000 Swedish Kronor (approximately $194 USD) payable to the Swedish state treasury. This was reported by Nyheder24.dk.

The Swedish Royal House has confirmed receipt of the fine but refrained from further comment on the matter. Interestingly, Prince Daniel is not the only royal with a penchant for speed.

King Carl Gustaf of Sweden, a known car enthusiast, has often been spotted at the iconic Nürburgring in various BMWs. At 77 years old, the king, who has also been involved in some traffic accidents, is said to have gasoline in his blood.

This incident serves as a reminder that even members of the royal family are subject to the same laws and regulations as ordinary citizens.
