Russia Seeks to Ban Uranium Supplies to the USA.

Trending Now

Russian uranium exporter JSC Techsnabexport has warned US companies of a potential ban by the country on the export of nuclear fuel, in response to similar restrictions imposed by the American side on December 11th. This was reported by a knowledgeable source according to Ura News.

"Electric companies Constellation Energy Corp, Duke Energy Corp, and Dominion Energy Inc have been notified. The final decision on the export restriction by Russian authorities has not yet been made," the Russian media writes citing the source.

The ban could come into effect 90 days after its enactment.

The United States House of Representatives has passed a law prohibiting the import of Russian uranium.

The restrictions will last until the year 2040.

In October 2023, the USA tripled its purchases of Russian uranium, making Russia the second main supplier of raw materials to the United States after Britain, RT reports.

If Russia imposes a ban on exporting uranium to the U.S. the Americans will have to source it from somewhere else.
