At around 5:20 PM in Murnau (local time), in front of a bustling shopping centre, a violent encounter left two Ukrainian men dead, sparking an immediate and intense investigation.

The incident, which involved a knife attack, tragically ended the lives of two individuals aged 23 and 36, confirmed to be Ukrainian nationals residing in the adjacent district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This is reported by German police.

Authorities responded quickly to the emergency call, but despite their efforts, one victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and the other died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The rapid response continued with the arrest of a 57-year-old Russian citizen, who is now the prime suspect in this disturbing case.

He was detained at his home near the crime scene, and law enforcement wasted no time securing the area and gathering evidence.

A Community in Shock

This violent act has left the local community in shock and mourning, as they struggle to understand the motive behind such brutality.

The Munich Public Prosecutor's Office is leading a diligent investigation, treating the murders with the gravity they warrant.

"We are deeply saddened by this senseless loss of life and are committed to a thorough investigation," stated a spokesperson from the office.

The suspect is currently awaiting a court decision on whether he will be held in custody pending further investigation.

Police are urging anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the attack to come forward.

"Witnesses can provide crucial information that could help clarify the sequence of events and the motive behind this tragic incident," said a representative of the criminal police.
