Minnesota Woman Uses Racial Slur Against Black Child, Raises $700K Online

A short video from a playground in Minnesota has exploded online. In it, a woman is seen using a racist slur against a 5-year-old Black boy.

The man filming the video calls her out. She does not apologize. Instead, she doubles down and gives him the middle finger, reports AP News.

The video has gone viral. So has the backlash. But in an unexpected twist, the woman has also received over $700,000 in donations.

The money came from people using a Christian fundraising site called GiveSendGo.

The page claims the woman used the slur because she was frustrated. She said the boy went through her toddler’s diaper bag.

The Associated Press has not confirmed that this happened.

She wrote online that her family has faced serious problems because of the video. She also said she “called the kid out for what he was.”

Many people see her words as a racist attack. Others argue she is being unfairly harassed.

In response, the local NAACP chapter started its own fundraiser. This one supported the boy’s family.

The campaign raised $340,000 before the family asked for it to be closed.

The NAACP said the boy is on the autism spectrum and called the woman’s actions hateful and threatening.

Police in Rochester looked into the incident. They gave their findings to city officials to decide if charges should be filed. So far, no decision has been announced.

Experts say this case shows a deeper issue. Dr. Henry Taylor from the University at Buffalo says the money raised shows how racism is still strong in parts of society.

He says when people are upset or looking for someone to blame, they often turn to hate.

This incident has also reopened debates about what is called “cancel culture.” Some people say the woman is being punished unfairly.

Others say this is about facing the consequences of her actions.

The online support she got is similar to what others received in controversial cases. Many of the donors wrote hateful comments themselves.

Some claimed she just made a mistake. But experts say using a slur, especially against a child, should never be acceptable.

And some fear the internet has made it too easy to excuse hateful behavior.
