Product recalls involving kitchen appliances are becoming more common as safety agencies keep a closer watch on consumer complaints and injury reports.
Even expensive products sold by trusted brands can sometimes develop dangerous defects after years on the market.
Now, more than 157,000 electric kettles sold across the United States, Canada, and Mexico are being recalled because of a possible burn risk, reports EatingWell. The recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The products
The affected products are Zwilling Enfinigy Kettles with model numbers 53101-200 and 53101-201. The recall also includes Zwilling Enfinigy Kettle Pro models numbered 53101-500, 53101-501, 53101-502, 53101-503, and 53101-504.
The kettles were sold in several colors, including black, silver, rose gold, and white. They were available at HomeGoods stores across the United States and online through Zwilling’s website from December 2019 through February 2026.
Prices ranged between $120 and $200 depending on the model and color.
According to the safety commission, the problem comes from the kettle handle. Officials say the handle can loosen or separate completely while the kettle is being used. If that happens, hot water may spill and cause burns.
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Aktiengesellschaft has already received 163 reports connected to the issue. Five people reported injuries. One person suffered a second-degree burn.
What to do
Consumers are being asked to stop using the recalled kettles immediately. Anyone who owns one should check the model number carefully to see if it matches the recalled products.
Customers can contact the company to request a refund or learn more about the recall process. Zwilling has provided a toll-free phone number and an email address for affected buyers.
Safety experts say consumers should never continue using products involved in burn-related recalls, even if the defect has not yet appeared. Problems involving boiling water can quickly become serious, especially in homes with children or older adults.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says stores and online sellers are working to remove the recalled kettles from sale.
