Trump’s doctor issues update ahead of president’s 80th birthday

The doctor of the POTUS comes with an update.

Questions about the health of America’s oldest sitting president continue to attract attention as Donald Trump approaches another milestone.

According to Reuters, a new medical assessment released by the White House on Friday concludes that the 79-year-old president remains fit to perform his duties, while also providing fresh details about several minor conditions that have drawn public scrutiny in recent months.

Report follows Trump’s latest visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center earlier this week.

Doctor Declares Trump Fit for Office

According to White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, the president remains in strong overall condition.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” Barbabella wrote.

“Fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” the doctor added.

Trump later offered his own brief assessment of the examination.

“Everything checked out perfectly,” the president said after the visit.

Swelling and Bruising Still Present

Medical report acknowledged that Trump continues to experience mild swelling in his lower legs, although doctors say the condition has improved compared with last year.

Bruising on his hands also remains visible.

Barbabella described the issue as “common,” “benign” and “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.”

Previous public appearances had fueled speculation after photographs showed swollen ankles, bruising on the hands and discoloration around the neck.

Medical memo did not address treatment Trump reportedly received on his neck earlier this year.

Neurological Testing Shows No Concerns

Doctors also evaluated the president’s mental and neurological health.

According to the report, examinations found normal cognitive function and no signs of depression or anxiety.

“Comprehensive neurological examination demonstrated normal mental status,” the memo stated.

Cardiovascular testing likewise showed normal results.

Advice for the Year Ahead

Physicians used the examination to provide recommendations aimed at maintaining Trump’s health as he approaches his 80th birthday in June.

“Preventive counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss,” the report said.

Updated figures released by the White House list Trump at 6 feet 3 inches tall and 238 pounds.

Health has remained a recurring political topic throughout Trump’s presidency, particularly because he became the oldest person ever to take office when he returned to the White House.

Trump has frequently contrasted his fitness and energy levels with those of former President Joe Biden, who left office last year at the age of 82 after facing repeated questions about his own health and ability to serve.
