A royal stayed distant from the former prince, before the rest of the family.

Relationships inside the Royal Family have often attracted as much attention as official engagements.

Fresh claims from a royal commentator now suggest that tensions surrounding Prince Andrew may have been building behind palace walls long before the controversies that later dominated headlines.

According to comments made on a recent podcast, Princess Catherine reportedly kept her distance from Andrew for years, even during private family occasions.

Alleged Rift Predated Public Scandals

Discussion emerged during an episode of The Royals Uncensored podcast, where columnist and broadcaster Maureen Callahan referenced information attributed to royal author Andrew Lownie.

According to Callahan, Catherine had reportedly chosen not to engage with Andrew at family gatherings well before the latest allegations and controversies surrounding the Duke of York became public.

“Andrew Lownie said that for quite a long time before the Andrew story blew up, Catherine would refuse to speak with him at family gatherings,” Callahan said.

Claim has not been publicly confirmed by Kensington Palace or Buckingham Palace.

William Also Reportedly Kept His Distance

Callahan further suggested that Prince William shared a similar view.

According to the commentator, Andrew’s relationship with the future king had cooled considerably over time, with William allegedly seeking to limit contact with his uncle.

“When there is a King William I think Andrew will be fully expunged,” Callahan added.

Comments reflect growing speculation about Andrew’s future role within the monarchy and whether any public rehabilitation remains possible.

Fall From Royal Grace

Prince Andrew’s standing within the Royal Family has dramatically declined in recent years.

Scrutiny intensified following revelations concerning his relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, prompting widespread criticism and renewed examination of his public role.

Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing and rejected allegations made against him.

Subsequent controversies further damaged his position, ultimately leading to the loss of royal titles and privileges that had once made him one of the most prominent members of the monarchy.

Life Away From the Spotlight

Reports suggest Andrew now lives a significantly quieter life than he once did.

Following the loss of Royal Lodge, he is believed to have relocated to Marsh Farm, a property located on King Charles’ Sandringham Estate.

Public appearances have become increasingly rare, and royal observers say a return to official duties appears highly unlikely.

Meanwhile, attention continues to focus on how Prince William and Princess Catherine may shape the future of the monarchy, particularly as questions linger over which figures will remain close to the institution in the years ahead.
