According to a report by TASS, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova issued a blunt threat targeting Western alliance members. She delivered the message during a packed press briefing in Moscow.
The diplomat warned that any military move against Russian territory would trigger immediate retaliation. The Kremlin wants to ensure that foreign capitals understand the severe consequences of crossing its red lines.
Devastating reply
The warning targets any member of the alliance that might consider direct action. Moscow insists its response to such a move will be absolute.
“Once again, I would like to emphasize that in the event of aggression by any NATO state against any Russian region, our response will be decisive and devastating for those who initiate such a reckless move,” Zakharova stated during the briefing.
The statement serves as a direct warning to Western defense officials currently coordinating aid. Russian officials believe alliance troop movements near the border are pushing the continent toward war.
Pushing the limits
Moscow’s warnings also focused on the Western military planners organizing defense strategies. The Kremlin remains confident that its military can easily overwhelm any defensive lines built by the alliance.
TASS reported that Zakharova completely dismissed the effectiveness of Western military planning. She warned that no amount of foreign preparation would save alliance members if a direct confrontation breaks out.
“And no brigade commanders of the West, as they call themselves, no capabilities, potential, or defense lines will help them. They should realize what they are pushing Europe toward with such statements and actions,” Zakharova stressed.
